I can’t believe how it’s come to be that I’m picking up Christine d’Abo’s second Shadow Guild book without having gotten to the first one yet. Like, how??
Ok, enough about my failings…
I really liked Quicksilver Soul! A spunky heroine? Check! A stoic, sexy hero? Check! A plot with nefarious plans and uprisings? Check! Steampunk inventions galore? Check! And if that weren’t enough, you’ll feel bad (a little) for the villain, empathize with a clockwork creature, thrill at a woman excelling in a man’s world, and all in all, enjoy this lovely romp through New London.
d’Abo repurposes famous inventors creatively in this outing, which features Nicola Tesla and Thomas Edison. The memory-storing procedure is creepy, the effect on the extractors even creepier. But it all works like, well, clockwork! 
Definitely give Quicksilver Soul a whirl if you’re a fan of steampunk-adventure-and-romance, you’ll likely want to pick up the first in the series Gilded Hearts (like me!).
