Every time I pick up a new Jill Shalvis story, I worry that it won’t be as good as the last one… Because, y’know, she can’t be that perfect and hit them all out of the ballpark. Right?
Wrong.
Its in His Kiss is just about the perfect romantic read. Our heroine is spunky and brave. Our hero is grumpy and kind. I love the mix of cute and sexy, hot and sweet, and quirky and fun. And who can resist the little nicknames sprinkled liberally throughout, like “Sexy Grumpy Surfer”? I also love that Lucky Harbor’s local residents make an appearance, especially Lucille who never fails to entertain.
The story itself is basic girl-runs-away-from-troubles, girl-meets-boy-with-own-baggage, then they fall in love, and don’t know how to move forward with their pasts hanging around the ankles. But with Shalvis’ skill and creativity, It’s in His Kiss reads as fresh as daisies in springtime. (Um, did that even make sense to you? Because it so does to me…)
Anyway. If a good romance is next on your to-read list, then make it It’s in His Kiss. Thank me (& Jill!) later!
